London Plane Bowl (4.5") #10

$65.00

This London Plane bowl is sturdy and has a nice lip for an easy grip.

Size: 2” tall by 4 1/2” wide

Wood: London Plane (related to Sycamore). The grain is vertically oriented, which highlights the “lacewood” pattern in the flat bottom and rim areas. Finished with food-safe linseed oil and beeswax.

Source: During the winter storms of 2022/2023, a large London Plane tree fell down on College Street in Woodland, taking out power lines and the power they provide. I seized the moment and with my trusty chainsaw, and was able to rescue some of the solid wood. This bowl is proof that something positive can result from an unfortunate event, and that’s one of the reasons I love turning wood.

Use: Great for holding dry food such as nuts, crackers, granola, or your favorite snacks!

Care & Maintenance: Wipe with damp cloth, or rinse quickly with water, then dry immediately. Avoid leaving bowl in water or sitting wet. When bowl feels dry or looses luster, rub with mineral oil (butcher block oil), pure food-grade linseed or tung oil. It’s okay to lightly sand with 600 grit paper if the grain feels fuzzy after many washes. Oil frequently to maintain sheen. The more you use it, the better the patina!
